bug (4.0.0) unstable; urgency=low

  The "bug" command, which was formerly provided by this package, is no
  longer included in Debian. This package installs the
  mostly-compatible "reportbug" package in its place.

  See the manual page for reportbug for details on how to use it
  (e.g. type "man bug"). In general, most of the features of bug are
  present and the short-form options are generally comparable to those
  formerly used by "bug". Notable differences include:

  * "bug" would read core dump files to figure out what package they
    belong to; reportbug doesn't do this yet. (See: #162638)

    A patch to implement this capability would be accepted without
    hesitation.

  * "bug" supported including the body of the report on the command line;
    reportbug does not allow this syntax (and there are no plans to add
    support for it in future releases).

  Once you have installed this package and its dependencies, it can be
  safely purged from your system using "dpkg --purge bug".

  (If someone is interested in resurrecting the old "bug" code base and
   continuing its development, I will gladly retire this package.)
